Baltimore Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Christmas night.

Hamilton, 22, had two interceptions and five combined tackles in Monday night’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Hamilton’s first interception came on a pass from 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy that was intended for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. The safety picked off the pass in the end zone to keep San Francisco from scoring on their opening drive.

The second interception by Hamilton was one that showed his determination on the play. The safety was knocked down by 49ers offensive lineman Aaron Banks before getting back up and making the interception on a pass that was deflected by cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Hamilton was taken out of the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that the injury doesn’t appear to be serious.

Hamilton was drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. During his three years at Notre Dame, he notched 138 combined tackles and one touchdown on eight interceptions.

In two seasons with Baltimore, Hamilton has 143 combined tackles and one touchdown on four interceptions. He also has five sacks and two forced fumbles.
